Tuesday
Back | HomeA little way from Nympsfield there is a bench overlooking the Severn Valley. On it, set in to one side of the seat, is this:

Which really sums up the weather for the last week, which combined with little internet access hasn’t inspired weather forecasting. But I’m back now from Nympsfield (nice club, shame about the complete absence of desert spoons in the members’ kitchen, eating a bowl (or three) of Cheerios with only a teaspoon is quite time consuming), so normal service should now be resumed.
I did note Monday’s wave flights from Sutton Bank with interest—-170 km is not to be sniffed at. Checking the RASP archive shows that wave was well-forecast, most clearly seen by the wave bars visible in the surface heating charts. It’s worth remembering that the primary motivation for moving RASP to 4 km nationwide was for improved wave forecasts, not for thermal forecasting.
Tomorrow (Wednesday) will start dry outside of the southwest, with rain pushing east through the day turning showery as it goes, with the north drier but still quite cloudy. All small area from Cheshire to Lincolnshire might get cumulus to 3,000 ft without winds too strong (probably below 20 knots at height). The evening should be dry and bright, useful for evening groups.
Thursday sees more widespread showery rain with soarable bits in between showers.
Friday is much more interesting, with the promise of soaring for southern and eastern parts (more general cloud for the north and west). Saturday will probably be quite wet in the south but better in the north, while Sunday just looks ****.

la,la,la,la,la,la,la,la, not listening, its all lies, its got to get better soon!!
