Gliding GP/Nympsfield

Back | Home

You heard it here last…

  • Nympsfield have moved to a proper blog (and Wordpress at that, good choice boys). Link on left updated.
  • It’s the World Air Gliding Games GP (or something), supposedly at grandprixchile.org, though the site is not working for me at time of posting. I took the link from the FAI’s page too… Note that apparently this isn’t the Sailplane GP, as that page makes no mention of the Chile event. Whatever.
  • (I’ve also removed the Bicester link, as they’re not updating very often. At all.)

(No, as far as I know, Nympsfield haven’t been given a GP event!)

Well it worked for me on my old Celeron work computer. However, I did have to install Google plug in and reboot the computer.
The race definition was not too good, and some controls did not seem to work.
Race began at 6pm UK time and Graham Parker (No Not the weatherman, the NZ pundit!)
took an early lead, but ignored local advice and ended up running downhill away fro the mountainous TP1 and “Death” valley.

On another subject, what do all LS and DG owners think about the imposition of a £220 annual charge for updated manuals(mandatory says EASA) ??

works fine here and the coverage at these events is getting better and better. the live tracking/data and commentary are quite good now. races start at 1730GMT. Wed 6th & Thu 7th saw excellent ridge racing with over 10k viewer hits each day.

My feelings about Herr Weber are probably not suited to a public forum.
However, its a tax on glider ownership. If support costs are what he says A pay as you go system would be fair and cover costs. Instead he has chosen to raise rather a lot of money for the Weber group at the expense of owners of older gliders.
When does a glider in his eyes become “older”.
The biggest danger is other manufacturers trying the same easy earner if he gets away with it.
I do feel it should be challenged, as should the apparent monopoly on tax collection by one UK distributor
